A double page storybook spread from Gabriel Garcia Marquez' "A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings", for university.

Here is Elisenda and her child, picking their way through the crabs and away from the Leper Whose Sores Sprouted Sunflowers, towards Elisenda and Pelayo's crab-proof, angel-proof house.

What a wonderful illustration! I love the muted colours and nice rough texture that the paper gives to everything.
I've never read this story but the picture really makes me want to!

Remember friend as you pass by
As you are now so once was I
As I am now you soon shall be
So prepare for death and follow me.

These are so beautiful. You really seem to be spreading your wings (so to speak ~_^) lately and realizing your full potential. I really like the composition of this one. Your work has tended toward being flat lately (not in a bad way) and its interesting to see you play with deep space. The figures and animals are all really sweet. I really like how you capture the essentials of form without weighing down anything with too many details. The crabs are especially charming. Those sunflowers really glow too.
This is a really interesting vision of the story. I'm going to have to go back and re-read it now :>

An hour passed, the moon came up, hunger and terror hold sleep at bay, in the wards everyone is awake.
